THE WORST EXPERIENCE AT A RESORT/HOTEL EVER!I booked two rooms for my family at The Grand at Moon Palace to usher in the new year. My family consisted of 4 adults and 3 kids for a total of 7 people. The booking confirmation stated that each room had a maximum occupancy of 4 people – so we were fine as we could accommodate up to 8 people. It seemed that Moon Palace and its staff were determined to ruin our vacation at every point. Upon our arrival at the airport, we had to wait for over 30 minutes for a private transfer (an upgrade that we paid over one hundred dollars for).It got worse from there. When we tried to check-in at the hotel, we were not allowed to because the staff claimed that we had to pay extra for the kids because they were not included! My kids are ages: 2, 6 and 7 years old. Moon Palace wanted another $1800 for the kids for our 6-night stay (on top of around $5000 that we already paid). I just could not understand why they were determined to use this ploy to get extra money from us. We were within the occupancy limits and the hotel had previously been provided all the names of my family members (including the children), so they could not claim to have been surprised by the number of guests I brought.We spent close to 3 hours at the front desk, being essentially held hostage. We talked and waited endlessly as the staff passed us from one staff member to another and then supervisors. The staff had no modicum of conscience or common sense. They were rude, tone-deaf and greedy. We were tired, hungry, and frustrated. We could not begin to look for an alternate hotel at this stage, and Moon Palace was not going to issue a refund. Consequently, we had to succumb to their unscrupulous antics and pay them the extra $1800 to be allowed into our rooms.On New Year’s Eve, as we dined in one of the restaurants, my wife was shocked to find a piece of broken toothpick inside her desert. The hotel also took another opportunity to fleece us at check-out, for good measure. We bought goods and services that we charged to our room, when it came time to check-out, the prices on the things were higher than originally quoted. Although the resort is physically beautiful, the service is atrocious. This is the first and last time that I’ll be going to a Moon Palace resort.
