WORKERS WENT THROUGH MY SUITCASE, MANAGER MADE IT SEEM LIKE IT WAS NORMAL : I had a very hard time writing a bad review for this resort during a time when the hospitality industry is suffering so much. My sisters and I stayed at this resort at the beginning of December. I’ve visited Mexico various time and try to stay somewhere new every time. I chose Puerto Morelos because I wanted my sisters to experience a more authentic part of Mexico other than visiting via cruises or work related. They were very worried over Covid 19 guidelines and personal safety but all their concerns were put to rest as soon as we were picked up from the airport. We were welcomed with personal sanitizing kits and cold bottle water. The resort was very clean, beautiful and the staff were nice and attentive. We quickly started enjoying ourselves, relaxing on the beach with delicious cocktails. I have left my wallet, as I usually do when I travel, in my suitcase but in a very concealed pocket. That night I noticed I was missing $20 but I assumed I just didn’t remember where I had spent it but the following night I was missing another $20. When I went to the service desk to speak to the manager, he was apologetic but seemed unfazed by my complaint and I was told the Guests Relation Manager will contact me. The rest of the trip had us tense the entire time worrying about what might be taken from our suitcase next. My sisters and I left this resort very disappointed with this experience and when the Manager called me he sounded sympathetic and concerned about my bad experience. He offered an upgrade if i would return to the resort (upgrade if I spend again.. convenient) and I thanked him and asked him to please get back to me on the outcome of the investigation. As much as I hate the idea of someone losing their job during this time, I wanted the person responsible held accountable for touching and sorting through my clothes and belongings in order to steal from guests. Unfortunately, almost 2 months have gone by and I’ve never heard from the Cesar Escandon, Guests Relation Manager.
