jess lark
On our second night at Tata Tulum, we had a large sum of cash (US dollars/pesos), stolen from the safe in our room. The safe is in an obscure location in the room and our cash was absolutely locked in and “secured” before leaving the hotel for the evening. The next morning all of our cash was gone. Unfortunately, this leads me to believe that a hotel employee stole the money. We reported the incident to management, who was not very accomodating- insisting that the money could not have been stolen from the safe. There is a sign in the room stating the hotel is responsible for items stolen from the safe, but apparently not!We had the hotel booked for two additional nights but after this event, we no longer felt safe staying here. What good is a beach to lay on if you can’t relax, knowing your items and belongings are secure? When we told the manager and asked for a refund for the 2 nights we were cancelling, she was hesitant to let us cancel and offered us a credit for a future hotel stay- continuing to insist the money could not have been stolen, implying we had somehow managed to lose it.Tata Tulum took zero responsibility for keeping their hotel guests safe and providing support during a difficult situation, and did not stand by their promise of protecting items placed in the safe.So needless to say, no I would not recommend this hotel.
